Michael Angelo Amerigi, called Carravaggio.—Three busts of Characters, who apparently are in earnest discourse. Signed Ravasid. F. Rona, 1603. The subject is supposed to allude to Peter's denial of Christ. The original Print is exceedingly rare.

William Bemmel.—A Landscape, with a Brook in the fore-ground, where a Man is seated on the bank, angling. Signed W. Bemmel, 1654, in letters reversed, the word towards the right, under the spot where the Man is seated, is the Dutch term for fecit.

Jan Duc, or Ducq.—A full-length figure of one of the Wise Men of the East, carrying his Offering. This piece holds a connexion with two other etchings, one of which represents another Oriental Figure with his Offering, and the other, the Madonna and Child. These have evidently been etched by him from studies composed for a Picture of the Wise Men's Offering.

Guillaume de Heusch.—A Landscape, described by Bartsch, in his "Peintre Graveur," under the title "Le Pelerin et le Berger." The etchings of this Master, ten in number, are of the utmost rarity.

William Mieris.—Thetis placing the infant Achilles in charge of the Centaur Chiron. The original of this piece is the only etching by the hand of the Master. It is of that rarity that it has not met the observation of Bartsch.

PLATE XVIII
Jan Mienze Molenaer.—A party of Seven Persons within an Alcove. One of them, in a state of inebriation, is singing to the instruments of two Musicians. The original etching is exceedingly rare, and is the only one known by the hand of this Artist. Bartsch specifies it under the title of "Les Debauches."

John van Noordt.—A View in the vicinity of Rome; the principal object is on the right, and consists of the Ruins of a magnificent Edifice, or Temple. This piece is from a painting by Pieter Lastman.

Rembrandt Gerretz van Rhyn.—A Landscape, partly filled by rustic habitations. On the right of the piece is a Peasant carrying two pails; and the distance beyond him represents a view of the Sea. [Described in Dalby's Catalogue as "The Peasant carrying Milkpails."]

Note: there is an old "puncture" in the sky area—not terribly distracting and most likely not noticeable once the etching has been mounted/framed.

Rodermont.—The Portrait of Johannes Secundus, a Poet, then a resident at the Hague. The original piece is etched in a masterly style, bearing some resemblance to that of Rembrandt. This Artist lived at the date of 1640, and was contemporary in art with that celebrated Professor [Rembrandt].

John Henry Roos.—Two Sheep [goats?] and a Lamb, reposing under a Tree. This piece is etched from the one numbered 7, of a Series of Nine Prints, including the Title which is dated 1671.

Herman Sachtleven.—A fine Landscape, influenced in its effect by the Sun, which is just rising above the horizon. In the fore-ground is a Man driving four Hogs. Bartsch denominates this piece, "Le Porcher," from the introduction of the Pig Driver.

Joseph Vernet.—A Landscape, with figures of Fishermen; the original of which is the only etching of this artist. It is exceedingly rare.
